Do you believe that God cares?

My sweet hubby carrying our daughter home from a long walk

For the longest time, I viewed God as a nonpersonal, unapproachable, and strict ruler. Anyone else ever been there? The idea that God cared about me personally and the little parts of my life seemed foreign. I'm not sure what exactly painted this picture in my head, but my heart had a hard time feeling God's goodness or love. It got to the point that praying felt like a battle. I would go to pray and couldn't find the words. Thankfully, over the past few years, the Lord has opened my eyes to His character and helped me believe in His kindness towards us. He has continued to show me how personal of a God He truly is and how much He loves each of us.

If you are having a hard time with the belief that God cares for you deeply and personally, this post is for you. Or maybe you know it, but you need a little reminder and refresher of His goodness and kindness. I hope this post can bring you that reassurance today.

As always, let's point to the scriptures... Read these slowly, and try to let every work soak into your mind and your heart. They are true, so read them as such.

"Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you."

1 Peter 5:7

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life."

John 3:16

"I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep."

John 10:11

"Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."

Matthew 11:28

“For I know the thoughts I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

Jeremiah 29:11

Throughout the whole Bible, God is reminding us that He cares for us. He mourns when we mourn, rejoices when we rejoice, and loves us more than we will ever know. He created us because He cares so much. He sent His son to the cross, because He cares so deeply. He promises to never leave us or forsake us, because He cares for us personally. He ask that we come to Him with our troubles because He cares about each and every one of them. Our God desires to spend eternity with us, because He cares about us so incredibly much.

So wherever you are right now, I hope you know that God cares for you. If you are in a hard season of trial and heartbreak, know that God cares about your disappointment and hardship. He sees you and is by your side. If you are in a season of change, know that God is by your side and will be your constant in the midst of the unknown. If you are in a season that is joyful and celebratory, the Lord is celebrating with you. He is for you and loves to see you happy.

The Lord cares for you. Believe it, because it is true. He is the greatest friend, the biggest supporter, the proudest Father, and the most powerful savior we could imagine. And that is such a sweet gift to us, if we believe it.

My prayer for you this week:

God, thank you so much for being such a personal, loving, kind, and close-to-us God. We do not deserve who you are, but we are so thankful that we get to call you our Lord and Savior. Please help our hearts and minds believe in your true character. And for those struggling to see your character, I pray that you show it to them- through other people, through your works, through your goodness in their lives. Reveal to us who you are and help us live a life that shows we believe it to be true. Thank you for you. Amen!
