It's Monday! You made it to another week! (virtual high-five here). My husband was out of town all weekend so I am thrilled it is finally Monday and he is back! I hope you had a good weekend and that you have something this week to look forward to! This week I want to share a little devotional and I hope it brings you encouragement.
I recently read the following quote: "If it's not good, God's not done yet. So don't quit while God's still working it out." I don't know about where you are currently, but that spoke to me. My family is personally in a season of waiting and it has been difficult to say the least. It's like an emotional rollercoaster that often makes us question everything. Sometimes it's hard to find endurance in the middle of a hard time when we can't see the full picture. Have you ever felt that?
We know God is in control, but when we are stuck in the middle of a trying season, our vision starts to get blurred with all the disappointment around us. We start grasping for control, questioning our purpose, and wondering if God is going to show up. It makes sense that when things are going south, we start questioning if it's right thing to do or if we should just quit. Maybe it wasn't meant to be. Maybe we aren't good enough. Maybe we don't deserve it. Maybe God isn't going to show up.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say those thoughts aren't foreign to you. Satan loves to make us doubt in the middle of our waiting. He wants us to forget about God's promise to be with us and that He will turn all things for good. When we are in the middle of a valley, we may be easily convinced. But it's important to remind ourselves of what scripture tells us and cling to those promises.
Romans 8:28
"And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose."
Genesis 50:20
"As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good in order to bring about this present result, to preserve many people alive."
Jeremiah 29:11
"'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the LORD, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'"
Psalms 33:11
"The plans of the LORD stand firm forever, the purposes of His heart through all generations."
Isaiah 41:10
"Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."
Deuteronomy 31:8
"It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”
Written all throughout the scriptures, we are reminded that the Lord has a plan for us and that He will never leave us. Through the valleys and on the mountain tops, He will never forsake us. He will work all things for the good to those who love Him. He will take evil, and disappointment, and heartache and turn it into prosperity, and life, and good. We never have to worry. If it isn't good, God isn't done yet. Call upon His name and wait for Him to move. Maybe the good won't be exactly what we had in mind, but if we trust His plan and His sovereignty, we can rest assured that His good will prevail.
I hope this gives the encouragement to keep going. Keep fighting. Keep trying. God has a plan and a purpose and it is ultimately better than we could ever imagine. The here and now may feel hard and long, but God IS working. Even when we can't see it. It may feel easy to question yourself and want to quit, but the Lord has never left your side and He never will.
If it isn't good, God isn't finished. Wait on the Lord!
My prayer for you this week:
God, thank you for working all things for good. Thank you for never leaving us and for being sovereign over everything. Thank you for each and every one of the people reading this right now. I pray you help them rest this week in your presence, knowing you are with them and that you are working. Give us endurance, Lord. We love you and praise you.
